Sample Size Estimation
Pictured is the sample size formula for a test of two normally distributed means as a function of: the ratio of the sample size in each group (r), the standard deviation (σ), the effect size (difference) between the two means under the alternative hypothesis, and the Zα/2 and Zpower coefficients that will give the appropriate alpha and beta error rates for your study design.
